The wait is almost over for the new CD by guitarist Steve Oliver. A singular treat from the new album is an amazing version of one of the most popular songs of all time.
The new CD by guitarist and vocalist Steve Oliver is amazing enough. The 11-song CD, called 3-D, is Oliver's first for Koch Records and will be released Aug. 24.
But what takes it to the next level is an inspirational version of the John Lennon classic, "Imagine."
Starting off reflective and building in intensity, Oliver's take on Lennon's seminal solo tune is at turns heartbreaking and inspiring. That's hard to do. Featuring soft background vocalese, strings and a sweet layer of guitar work, Oliver's "Imagine" just goes to show you can never interpret a classic enough times if done in new and exciting ways.
The album is co-produced by Spyro Gyra’s Tom Schuman. Guest musicians include saxophonist Eric Marienthal and Fourplay drummer Harvey Mason.
The first single is an upbeat song called “Chips and Salsa.” Belive me when I say there are many more memorable songs, including one called "Magic World."Posted by Brian Soergel at August 2, 2004 02:17 AM
