Producer Jason Miles is working on a CD that will pay tribute to one of his dearest friends, the late Bob Berg.
It was two years ago today -- Dec. 5, 2002 -- that the brilliant jazz saxophonist Bob Berg was killed in a car accident in Long Island.
Producer and musician Jason Miles, who called Berg a lifelong friend, says he doesn't want people to forget what a good friend and brilliant sax player Berg was.
Because of that, Miles and Berg's wife Arja and longtime friend and manager Christine Martin are working with Savoy Jazz on a Bob Berg memorial CD that will include tracks from Berg's CDs on Denon and Stretch records.
"We hope it will be released by the end of March or early April," says Miles. "We also plan on having an event to coincide with the release in NYC."
Miles has a wish for today. "If you have any CDs of either his solo work or with him playing on it, maybe you could give it a spin today in his memory. Bob is definitely missed. Lets all remember how precious life really is."
