Guitarist Chuck Loeb pays tribute to two big names on his upcoming CD.
Smooth jazz guitarist Chuck Loeb, who joined the band of legendary saxophonist Stan Getz 25 years ago for a two-year stint, will dedicate a song to his former boss on his upcoming album.
And what a song it is. Loeb has confirmed that he will interpret one of Getzs most famous songs, The Girl From Ipanema, for his upcoming album. Getz, who helped popularize Brazilians bossa nova music in the U.S. with Antonio Carlos Jobim with songs like The Girl From Ipanema and Desafinado, died in 1991.
In addition, Chuck will include an original song he wrote in honor of the late Ray Charles, Brother Ray.
The new album, Loebs seventh for the Shanachie label, will be called When Im With You. Other titles that Loeb has finished include "Double Life, "Tropical and Anytime, Anywhere.
When Im With You is expected to be released on Feb. 22, 2005.
