Duncan Millar - Fresh Air (2013)
British keyboardist Duncan Millar has released a new CD after a hiatus featuring tons of memorable tracks, he is supported by the best UK players, and his keyboard playing over cool grooves results in another brilliant album. Don't miss it!

GRP 30: The Digital Master Company 30th Anniversary (2012)
This 2 CD set provides over two hours of great jazz recorded during the past 30 years of the seminal GRP label and shows their versatility and scope with artists ranging from David Benoit, Dave Valentin, Lee Ritenour, Diane Schuur and Dave Grusin to George Benson, Dizzy Gillespie, Tom Scott, Spyro Gyra and Arturo Sandoval. Everything is perfectly recorded and produced. A gem!

Quasimode - Four Pieces: The Best Selection (2012)
This excellent band from Japan combines straight-ahead acoustic jazz with contemporary club grooves, which yields mesmerizing results. This best of selection provides their best tracks and is the place to start if you want to learn more about this band. Groovy!

Elan Trotman - Tropicality (2013)
Saxman Elan Trotman is quickly entering the top level of smooth jazz with his latest release. Guests like Jeff Lorber, Nick Colionne, Terry Lyne Carrington, Paul Brown and others make sure that the playing is nothing but outstanding. The CD has a nice tropical vibe. Recommended!

Jeff Tyzik - Radiance (1982)
My nod to the past goes to this LP by trumpeter Jeff Tyzik from 1982 featuring the best NYC session players like Steve Khan, Warren Bernhardt, Will Lee, Steve Gadd, Rubens Bassini, Grant Geissman, Don Grolnick and more. This brand of jazz-funk is my kind of music. Just love it!

D E N I S * P O O L E

The title cut from High Fidelity, the latest album release from that ultra talented singer, songwriter and keyboard player Alan Hewitt. This cool instrumental is everything one has come to expect from an artist with rhythm and melody to burn.

The sumptuous No Stress At All from Paul Hardcastles soon to be released Hardcastle VII. Those listeners who go back that far will be unable to ignore comparisons with Kool & The Gangs seminal 1974 hit Summer Madness yet, that said, No Stress At All is a fine example of Hardcastle at his best and an early contender for one of my tracks of the year.

Manhattan Vibe, the title track from the brand-new project from composer, producer and keyboard player Phil Casagrande. Replete with a cool yet edgy vibe, this is a number that, given the right exposure, could well be a surprise club scene crossover.

59th St. by multi-instrumentalist and vocalist d.Mills from his CD On The Table. d.Mills combines the pursuit of a career in music with his day job as a NYPD detective. This superb track not only captures the streetwise attitude of the Big Apple but, fittingly, would also play well as theme music for; yes you guessed it, a television cop show.

Cant Get You Out Of My Mind by New York based singer, songwriter and woodwind player Paula Atherton from her latest recording Enjoy The Ride. This mellifluous masterpiece proves to be the perfect vehicle with which to showcase Paulas considerable vocal talent and when she reprises the number in instrumental form the result is just as good.
