Andrew Neu - Everything Happens For A Reason (2013)
Saxophonist Andrew Neu comes up with a top-level smooth jazz album featuring some of the genre's best players (Rick Braun, Brian Bromberg, Jeff Lorber, Steve Oliver, Tom Schuman and Bobby Caldwell). Simply outstanding!
Mark Adams - Conversations (2013)
Nice smooth jazz album by pianist Mark Adams delivering a selection of original compositions and covers of jazz classics (like "Work Song"), supported by a great band. Very recommended!
Theo Bishop - Time To Think (2013)
Another great piano led contemporary jazz album with memorable melodies and top-notch playing by all involved. Don't miss it!
Peet Project - Overseas (2013)
Hungarian smooth jazz band Peet Project featuring violinist Péter "Peet" Ferencz released their third studio album and it is another winner, the band plays an infectious brand of groovy smooth jazz that is enthusiastic and energetic. They will appear at this year's Catalina Island Jazz Trax Festival and are destined to win over a lot more US fans!
Dave Valentin - Pied Piper (1981)
My nod to the past goes to this seminal album by latin flute player Dave Valentin on the GRP label, it is still one of my all-time favorite records, especially the title track is a smashing piece of music that still delights me today. Those were the glorious GRP days!

'No Limits' by Rob Tardik from the CD 'Limitless'. Having already garnered the hit radio single 'One World' this is an album with a gift that keeps on giving. With an up-tempo groove this is a number that finds bass-man Curtis Freeman laying down a thumping foundation, Jeff Salem delivering some in the pocket drumming and zesty interjections on sax from rising star Vincent Ingala. With Rob's searing Fender Stratocaster always to the fore this one for those who enjoy smooth jazz that is both edgy and diverse.
'Feedback' by sax-man Bob Reynolds from the album 'Somewhere In Between'. Described elsewhere as having tones reminiscent of Grover Washington Jr. with some Stan Getz thrown in for good measure, Reynolds has come roaring onto the scene. 'Feedback' features John Mayer on guitar and, despite its jazzy, bluesy undertones; this high tempo track could well become something of a cult classic.
'Breaking Glass' by The Tony Rich Project from the forthcoming Hidden Beach CD 'Speak Me'. This is the second single from what is becoming a highly anticipated album and carries on where 'Fade Away' left off in blurring the boundaries between pop and smooth R & B.
'Fort Dupont Park' by Dwayne 'Smitty' Smith from the CD 'Stories'. This wonderfully relaxing number (which takes Smith back to his Washington DC roots) is a gem and representative of a collection that should appeal equally to lovers of smooth jazz, urban jazz and that of a more straight ahead disposition.
'For Real' by Pieces Of A Dream from the album 'In The Moment'. Although 2013 is already shaping up as an outstanding smooth jazz year this new release from the wonderful Pieces Of Dream has just taken it to a whole new level. In fact although celebrating 37 years of making music is no small feat 'In The Moment' is the perfect CD with which to do it. It finds this illustrious band not only exploring new territory but also remaining aware of the core sound that has gotten them this far and is exemplified by the incredibly atmospheric 'For Real'.
