Cindy Bradley - Bliss (2014)
Trumpet player Cindy Bradley is making her way to the top, her latest release Bliss is top-drawer smooth jazz with an edge. With significant input from keyboardist Michael Broening and some great sax solos by husband Dan Cipriano, she delivers the good stuff. Very recommended!

Citrus Sun is the side-project of Incognito leader Jean-Paul "Bluey" Maunick, featuring him and guitarist Jim Mullen in a mostly instrumental jazz setting, the album provides a nice variety of grooves and moods and a couple of covers, one of them Marvin Gaye's "What's Going On". Solid stuff!

Philadelphia International Records: The Collection (2014)
My nod to the past goes to this seminal label and this 20 CD box set featuring arguably the twenty best albums the PIR label ever released. The CDs are in cardboard sleeves, there is a nice booklet with some extensive liner notes, helping the novice to understand the content of the box set. We get some classics by Teddy Pendergrass, Patti LaBelle, The Three Degrees, Lou Rawls, The Jones Girls, MFSB, Billy Paul and more. This is music with purpose and meaning!

'All For You', the new radio single from twenty two year old sax starlet Elizabeth Mis. Her debut CD 'Breakaway' turned out to be something of a revelation and now she is back with this tune that features Nicholas Cole. With a lovely mid-tempo groove it should ensure she resumes her quest for stardom exactly where 'Breakaway' left off.
'Silver Shadow' by Incognito from the CD 'Amplified Soul'. With a high-octane performance from vocalist Vanessa Haynes that really blows the doors off, and a rhythmic horn section to die for, this one is a real winner.
'Begin Again', the new track from sax-man Isaac Agyeman. Anchored by a strong horn section and perfect for Isaac's fulsome sax sound it marks a welcome return after a short time away from the scene. His third CD release is slated for later this year.
'Let There Be Light' by Jonathan Butler from his hotly anticipated new album, 'Living My Dream'. Co-written by Butler and Marcus Miller, this easy grooving instrumental features flashes of sax from Elan Trotman that simply adds to the pleasure.
'Unlimited Love' by The JazzMasters from the CD 'The JazzMasters VII'. One need only recall seminal tracks such as '19' and 'Rain Forest' to know how Paul Hardcastle has the ability to innovate around a common theme and allow this innovation to extend over years and sometimes over decades. His latest project, from his parallel vehicle The JazzMasters, has the luscious 'Unlimited Love' as it's lead single. Featuring Cindy Bradley on trumpet it is Hardcastle's homage to Barry White and, in true Hardcastle style, has the power to get in your head and not go away.
