Dan Siegel - The Other Side Of Town (2002)
Only released in Japan, this great smooth jazz album escaped my attention, until I found it on eBay recently. It was recorded in the US with a cast of top players, pianist Dan Siegel delivers a nice selection of melodic tracks featuring his keys. Quality stuff worth tracking down!

Ragan Whiteside - Quantum Drive (2014)
Flautist Ragan Whiteside comes up with another gem, her warm flute playing is a joy and the catchy songs keep you entertained throughout the whole album. She is supported by a top-notch cast of players like Bob Baldwin, Patrice Rushen, Frank McComb, Bo Valentine and fellow flute player Althea Rene. Thumbs up!

Manu Katché - Touchstone For Manu (2014)
World class drummer Manu Katché delivers a "best of" compilation, the material was recorded between 2004 - 2014 and features a string of outstanding guest players. The music is acoustic jazz with a nice groove that goes down very well. Check it out!

Stephanie Lottermoser - Good Soul (2013)
This German tenor sax player delivers a nice funky album with catchy melodies and good playing by all involved, in addition, her mellow vocals grace a few songs. I saw her live at the Smooth Jazz Festival Augsburg 2014 where she appeared with Bob Baldwin. Good stuff!

Stanley Turrentine - Nightwings (1977)
My nod to the past goes to this LP by saxophonist Stanley Turrentine, who passed away in 2000. This record features his warm sax playing, supported by a great studio band with Eric Gale on guitar, plus a full orchestra. Classic stuff!

'In Love With You' by Euge Groove from his latest CD Got 2 Be Groovin. Complete with vocals from Trin-i-tee 5:7 founder member Chanelle Haynes, this soulful number takes Euge into the sort of urban jazz territory that he occasionally frequented with his earlier projects.

'Tell Me About It' by Bennett Brandeis from the album Groove Time. Produced by multi Grammy winning Paul Brown, this is an album that has come out of no-where to be rightly regarded as among the best of the year so far and is exemplified by this sublime track which is a complete shoo-in for my top twenty of 2014.

'Elegant Nights' by keyboard player, and 2013 Grammy winner, Gregg Karukas from what is his twelfth solo project, the highly anticipated Soul Secrets. This collection of all-original songs has already been described elsewhere as being organic, funky, and melodic with a case in point being the first track to be released to radio, the sensational 'Elegant Nights'.

'Head Over Heels' by Peter White from his new recording, Smile. If this, the first single, is anything to go by, Smile is an album destined to take the contemporary jazz world by storm.

'Smoovin' by French guitarist U-Nam from his latest project, C'est Le Funk. For those in the know, anticipation for this hot new collection has been building for some time. Musical appetites have been well and truly whetted, first by the high-octane title cut and again with the wonderful 'Something's Up' that finds U-Nam teaming with sax player and vocalist Shannon Kennedy. Now he has made it three for three with the release of 'Smoovin', a feel good charmer, fuelled by a luscious orchestral backing, a splash of horns and top-notch guitar work from the man himself.
